Milan does not only present design. It stages ways of living.
At Casa Ornella, that idea becomes almost literal. During Milan Design Week 2026, this apartment in the 5Vie district transforms into a continuously evolving interior, where living, collecting and exhibiting merge into one.
Curated by Maria Vittoria Paggini, Casa Ornella is conceived as a show house rather than a traditional exhibition. For the 2026 edition, the project aligns with the broader 5Vie theme Qualia of Things, exploring how objects trigger emotional and sensory responses through material, texture and form.
The space is composed as a stage. Colour is applied with intensity, materials shift between soft and reflective, and objects are placed in a way that feels both deliberate and instinctive. Rather than highlighting individual pieces, the interior builds a total atmosphere in which everything contributes to the experience.
What emerges is a different understanding of domestic space. Not as a neutral backdrop, but as a narrative environment. A place where objects are carriers of emotion and memory, and where scenography becomes a tool for living.
Within the wider context of Milan Design Week 2026, Casa Ornella reflects a clear movement towards interiors that are expressive, layered and sensorial. Spaces that are not reduced, but composed.
While mapping Milan Design Week 2026, it is these authored interiors that reveal how design is shifting from object to experience.
Selection over completeness.
