Interior Trends Spring Summer 2027

Key Directions in Colour, Material and Design

This overview presents the key interior trends for 2027, translating a complex and rapidly shifting world into clear design directions.

Developed through ongoing research, international design events and cultural analysis, these trends offer a framework for designers, brands and buyers working within interior and home collections.

The insights are informed by visits to international design fairs, exhibitions and studios, combined with long-term research into aesthetic and material shifts.

The ATHOME Spring Summer 2027 trend book presents seven distinct themes. Each explores a different direction in colour, material and design, reflecting the complexity of our current cultural landscape.

Below, four themes are highlighted. Together they offer a curated view into the broader vision of the book.

Aftertide

Aftertide reflects a world that no longer stands still, where constant change reshapes how we live, design and connect.

Forms appear softened and flowing, as if shaped by waves and time. Glass, ceramics and textiles capture movement through transparency, reflection and layered surfaces.

The palette moves through aqua, teal and indigo, grounded by sandy neutrals and warmed by coral and deep red accents. The result is a calm yet dynamic aesthetic that balances stillness and transformation.

Key direction: fluid forms, layered transparency, shifting blues

From fluid movement, the narrative shifts towards richness and ornament.

Dolce Framenti

Dolce Framenti explores a renewed appreciation for richness, ornament and cultural heritage, where past and present merge into a contemporary design language.

Ornament returns not as excess, but as a new form of expression.

Drawing from Italian art and design, the theme combines sculptural forms, decorative detail and a sense of play. Marble, terrazzo and Murano glass are reinterpreted through a softer, more expressive lens.

The palette moves through gelato pastels, warm terracotta and soft blush tones, balanced with marble white and golden accents. The result is an aesthetic that feels both luxurious and light, nostalgic yet forward-looking.

Key direction: ornamental forms, soft pastels, layered heritage

This richness settles into something more grounded, where material and tactility take the lead.

Rawmance

Rawmance explores the beauty of imperfection, where raw materials and refined expression exist side by side. Surfaces are tactile, irregular and grounded, revealing marks of time, process and touch.

Rather than concealing flaws, this direction embraces cracks, textures and unfinished edges as part of its aesthetic language. Softness and ornament emerge from a raw foundation, creating a tension between strength and fragility.

The palette is earthy and muted, enriched with deeper tones and subtle contrasts that highlight material depth. The result is an aesthetic that feels honest, human and emotionally resonant.

Key direction: raw textures, imperfect surfaces, tactile depth, subtle ornament

From material honesty, the focus moves towards contrast, gesture and nuance. This richness gives way to a more grounded, tactile expression.

Between Shades

Between Shades explores the space between contrast and nuance, where softness meets bold, expressive gestures.

Surfaces reveal painterly marks, brushstrokes and tonal transitions, balancing control and spontaneity.

Key direction: tonal layers, painterly gestures, soft contrasts, graphic expression
